If I was going to recommend one book to someone who was just starting out on their spiritual path, I would start with James Redfield's Celestine Prophesy. It's a very simple, easy read which orients the reader to the concept of energy as it exists in nature and through our exchanges with one another. The story builds on the concept of coincidence as an indication of meaning, and a form of guidance.

When I read this story during my first year of college in Northern California, I was ready for the idea of coincidence and it's role in spirituality, but I had no knowledge of Carl Jung's concept of Synchronicity. I didn't come across the topic of Synchronicity until years later where it was being used in the context of psychoanalysis, and the inner workings of the human mind. Imagine learning about the concept of synchronicity and that in and of itself being one of the biggest weirdest synchronicities to date in your life;)

The Celestine Prophesy unfolds through an adventure of following one's intuition as they manifest in the form of coincidence. The urgency in the story centers around efforts to suppress the information about energy and how it works, because knowledge about energy and how to manipulate it could be dangerous in the wrong hands.

The story illustrates a fundamental understanding of the energetic world as it exists whether we are aware of it or not. It provides a concept of energy in a way that is approachable and human. If you've never really connected to the concept of energy in your own way that makes sense to you, I would invite you to try this book, especially if you have already felt a connection with Nature.
