The New Currency is Passion

Passion is a switch.

It activates endless energy and motivation.

As we're watching capitalism crumble under the exploitation of patriarchy, we know it's time to pivot, but the greatest challenge is to ensure that we build from a new paradigm instead of charging deeper into this fever dream.

The innovation of currency is rooted in our need for opportunities for exchange. Our efficacy as a complex organism is based on our capacity for exchange from our cellular biology to our social interactions. Basically we created money out of our deeply human need for "the exchange."

Biology 101 tells us that complex organisms are divided into multiple cells rather than just a single-celled organism because it creates more surface area, yielding more opportunities for cellular activity and more complex functions. Basically we as humans are capable of complex function because we are made up of millions of smaller cells that are constantly interacting.

There is an excerpt by Meher Baba from The Everything and The Nothing which speaks to origin story of God dividing itself in order to experience Love.

"God is Love. And Love must love. And to love there must be a Beloved. But since God is Existence infinite and eternal there is no one for Him to love but Himself. And in order to love Himself He must imagine himself as the Beloved whom He as the Lover imagines He loves.

Beloved and Lover implies separation. And separation creates longing; and longing causes search. And the wider and the more intense the search the greater the separation and the more terrible the longing.

When longing is most intense separation is complete, and the purpose of separation, which was that Love might experience itself as Lover and Beloved, is fulfilled; and union follows. And when union is attained, the lover knows that he himself was all along the Beloved whom he loved and desired union with; and that all the impossible situations that he overcame were obstacles which he himself had placed in the path to himself.

To attain union is so impossibly difficult because it is impossible to become what you already are! Union is nothing other than knowledge of oneself as the Only One."

Every cellular exchange, every dollar you spend is in a holy sense, the sacred opportunity for life to experience itself. We get to be in this divine dance, holding hands and breaking bread together for a short time only. Life is about the dance. It's about market day, greeting the community, bringing your precious creations to life and trading with your neighbor. It's about exchanging glances, hello's and even the fuck-you's.

If all the money was to get bottle-necked or stuck somewhere in the current system, and it stopped flowing to the people, what would happen? When the system stops animating the dance, will we bring the energy or let the music die?

And by bring the energy, I mean, what will we do with ourselves if we're not dancing together?

Thermodynamics defines energy as "the ability to do work."

Passion gives me energy.

Passion can provide energy to forage for the materials I need all while holding the vision of what I want to create. It gives me drive and raw determination to see my project to completion. Passion is my endless source of energy and it can be transmuted into bartering, building, gardening, endless things.

Now that I know what fuels my passion, I have an endless source of energy. When I am in this energy, I have the lazer focus and patience to practice until I become a master.

As money becomes less accessible as a form of currency, what will motivate us? Can we find passion to transmute into a new form of exchange?

Could passion become the new purpose? When we created AI to do the work for us, we inadvertently rid ourselves of our sense of purpose, which is to experience one another through exchange. The whole circular point was to delegate the work we don't want to do (=the ways we don't enjoy interacting with the world) so that we could do the work we're passionate about (= earning a living doing the thing you love, feeling good about how you show up in the world each day). But right now, the system is breaking down and failing the people, the animals and the planet. The new world will be built by those who know how to access their passion by learning to speak the language of the heart.

The moment you rekindle your spark of passion, the new world is birthed. All you have to do to start is listen to the little whispers in your heart and let yourself get excited. We build on that. Bring your passion and your tools.
